Unused from the Challenge

I took something like 1700 photos for the September Challenge. Sure, many are virtual duplicates because I keep the camera in “burst mode” when shooting in macro using manual focus. But still, that’s a heck of a lot of photos. Back before digital, 30 to 50 photos in a month was a big deal. Now I can shoot to my heart’s desire.

An awful lot of the photos are out of focus. It’s wicked hard to catch a moving bug with a macro lens. Despite that, I was lucky enough to catch a few decent shots that I did not use for the Challenge. I put a few of the best together into a slide show, just in case you want to check them out.

Here are some of the photos that I didn’t use for the Challenge.

There’s some really lovely photos in that slide show but my absolute favourite is number ten. I looked at it and went “oh wow”. It’s sad that it didn’t make the challenge and get the attention it deserves. I think you should post it in the “What did I shoot today” thread.

I love the flying monarch butterfly and the symmetrical dragonflies, you did leave some great shots out.

Ha! I almost missed these I especially loved the one of the monarch butterfly in mid-air. That is such a gorgeous shot!

I’m curious. I see you are on wordpress and that your unused images are in a slideshow type of thing. Did you create that with Lightroom? I just got Lightroom 3, and they have all these publishing features to put stuff up on Flickr, Smugmug, but I didn’t see anything for WordPress and I have a website that is just waiting for me to do something with it. I would like to do something like you did but with several slideshows, each for different categories, ex: urban, nature etc., If you did this with Ligthroom, did you publish to your hardrive or use a plugin? Any info you could give me would be really appreciated. 🙂

I just used one of the built-in slideshows in Adobe Bridge, then published to my desktop. Then, I transferred the folder with Transmit and viola!

Thanks so much. I’m going to have to try something similar, I really, really like the slideshow look and how it has the interactive factor of us participating in advancing through the pics.

        muchos gracias! 🙂
